Shukurat Oladipo Commits Future to AS Roma with Contract Extension Until 2029


Super Falcons defender Shukurat Oladipo has signed a new contract extension with Italian Serie A Femminile giants AS Roma, keeping her at the club until June 2029. The announcement comes after a remarkable debut full season in Italy, where the Nigerian centre-back established herself as one of the league's standout defenders. 



Oladipo played a pivotal role in Roma's domestic success, helping the Giallorosse lift both the Serie A Femminile title and the Coppa Italia. Her commanding performances, consistency, and defensive leadership also earned her recognition as the Serie A Femminile Defender of the Season, capping off an outstanding campaign. 


The new deal reflects AS Roma's confidence in the Nigerian international, whose rapid rise has made her a key figure in the club's long-term plans. Since joining from FC Robo in 2025, Oladipo has continued to impress with her composure, strength, and maturity at the heart of the defence. 


By extending her stay until 2029, the 21-year-old defender is set to continue her journey with the Italian champions as she looks to build on an already trophy-laden spell in Rome.

 Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has showed her disappointment following the Confederation of African Football’s decision to postpone the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. CAF announced on Thursday that the tournament, originally scheduled to kick off in Morocco on 17 March, has been moved to July 2026. The continental football body said the postponement was due to unforeseen circumstances. Some of the 16 qualified teams had preparations in top gear ahead of the competition and took part in friendly matches during the recent international window. Nigeria’s Super Falcons played two friendlies against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses as part of their build up.
