FC Robo International: A Journey of Passion, Player Development and Success in Nigerian Football By Kofi Graphy In Nigerian football, a club’s story is not measured by trophies alone. It is also about the players who pass through its doors, the opportunities it creates and the people who keep the dream alive through different seasons. FC Robo International has a story that brings all these things together. Founded on 19 April 1999 by Emmanuel Osahon Orobosa, FC Robo International has grown from its grassroots beginnings into a recognised name in Nigerian football, particularly in the women’s game. Based in Mushin, Lagos, the club has continued to provide young footballers with opportunities to develop their talents and compete at higher levels. Over the years, FC Robo Queens, the club’s women’s team, have become a major part of that journey. Their performances in domestic competitions, their involvement in the Nigerian Women Football League and their connection to the development ...

The Missing Retirement Honour: Why Former Internationals Deserve an Official Send-Off

Image
By Kofi Graphy There is a part of Nigerian football that we don't talk about enough: what happens to our legends when their time with the national team comes to an end? For many Super Falcons players, the journey has involved years of sacrifice. They have travelled across countries for Nigeria, played through injuries, missed important family moments, competed in World Cups and African championships, and carried the pressure that comes with wearing the national colours. But when that chapter closes, the farewell is often very quiet. There is usually no special Super Falcons game to celebrate the player. No guard of honour. No major presentation. No opportunity for the supporters who watched and celebrated those players over the years to properly say thank you. And I think that is something Nigerian football needs to look at. Retirement should not mean that a player's contribution suddenly becomes history and nothing more. For some of these women, their careers are a major part ...

Ayatsea Hembafan Roseline Making Her Mark in Turkey By Kofi Graphy Ayatsea Hembafan Roseline is steadily making her presence felt in Turkish football, with her opening five appearances showcasing consistency, attacking quality and an increasing influence on the pitch. Roseline has featured in all five games so far, helping her side record two wins, two draws and one defeat. She has started four of those matches, completing the full 90 minutes in three while coming on as a substitute in the other. Her contribution has gone beyond simply being available for selection. Against Sultanbeyli Gücü Spor, Roseline provided an assist as her team secured an entertaining 4–3 home victory, playing her part in an important three-point result. She then found the back of the net against Yüksekova, scoring in a 1–1 away draw and showing her ability to contribute directly to the scoresheet even on the road. But Roseline saved one of her biggest performances for the meeting with Şile Bilgidoğa. In a domi...

From Cameo to Creator: Mariam Abdulkabir Promising Start in Turkey

Mariam Abdulkabir  Settling Into Turkish Football With Promising Early Displays By Kofi Graphy Mariam Abdulkabir is steadily finding her feet in Turkish football, and her early performances for Kayseri Kadın Futbol Kulübü are beginning to offer an encouraging glimpse of what she can bring to the league. The Nigerian forward’s journey has been one of gradual integration. Starting from the bench in her first appearance against Sultanbeyli, Mariam made her presence felt when introduced, providing the assist for the final goal in an entertaining 4–3 encounter. She was subsequently named among the substitutes against Antalyaspor and Amed SK, continuing to adapt to a new footballing environment, different tactical demands and a new league. Her growing involvement soon translated into starting opportunities. Mariam earned her first start against Yüksekova, a significant step in her adjustment to Turkish football. She followed that up with another start against Çekmeköy, where she de...

The Architect Behind the Journey: Osahon Emmanuel and the Making of Nigerian Football Talent

Osahon Emmanuel O: The Man Who Deserves Serious Recognition in Nigerian Football By Kofi Graphy The Man Behind the Journey Osahon Emmanuel O   Football history often remembers the goalscorers, the captains and the players who lift trophies. But behind almost every successful footballer is a story that began somewhere—and, in many cases, that story began with someone who saw the talent before the rest of the world did. In Nigerian women's football, Emmanuel Osahon Orobosa, popularly known as Coach Osahon, is one of those figures whose contribution deserves far greater attention. Long before he became known for his work in women's football, Osahon was a footballer himself. He was an ex-goalkeeper of Nijadock FC and First Bank FC, while also playing in other positions during his career. He also donned the Super Eagles jersey during the ECOWAS Cup era in the 1990s. Favour Nkwocha  That experience gave him a first-hand understanding of the game—knowledge that he would later ta...
