Bendel Insurance head coach Kennedy Boboye is set to take charge of Nigerian Women’s League champions Edo Queens as they begin their quest for continental glory at the 2026 WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers in Burkina Faso.

Boboye will lead the team on an interim basis, stepping in for Edo Queens’ substantive head coach, Moses Aduku, who is currently away on national-team duty.

The experienced coach arrives with valuable knowledge of Nigerian football and a wealth of experience managing competitive teams. His leadership will be crucial as Edo Queens prepare to face some of the strongest sides in the WAFU B region.

Edo Queens Handed Tough Group

The Nigerian champions have been drawn in Group B, where they will battle ASEC Mimosas of Côte d’Ivoire, Ampem Darkoa FC of Ghana and AS Garde Nationale du Niger.

With qualification for the main CAF Women’s Champions League at stake, every match will carry significant importance for the Nigerian champions.

Boboye’s immediate task will be to guide Edo Queens through the qualifying tournament and help secure their place in the main continental competition later in the year.

A Big Assignment for Boboye

For a coach with Boboye’s experience, the target is straightforward: compete strongly, win the WAFU B qualifying tournament and secure Edo Queens’ place among Africa’s elite women’s clubs.

His understanding of Nigerian football, experience in high-pressure environments and ability to manage competitive squads could prove valuable as Edo Queens begin their continental campaign.

The club will also be looking to build on its domestic success and establish itself as a force beyond Nigeria.

All Eyes on Burkina Faso

With Edo Queens representing Nigeria on the continental stage, expectations will be high on both Boboye and the players.

The stage is now set in Burkina Faso, where Edo Queens will begin their pursuit of continental success under the guidance of Kennedy Boboye.

For Boboye, it is a new challenge. For Edo Queens, it is an opportunity to make history.
